When the Student is Ready, the Teacher Appears

Dear Friends,

We are sad to report that a dear and special friend of the center, Karl Schinke, has passed over on April 19th, 2024.

Karl volunteered many of his personal hours over many years, performing a variety of tasks including writing a monthly newsletter with his wife Barbara, sitting on the board as parliamentarian and advisor, performing needed data conversions, and so much more.

Born on November 21st, 1938, he achieved Mechanical Engineering degrees (BS and MS) from Stevens institute in the 1960s. He retired from Honeywell Corporation and also received a Technical Achievement Award in 2001.

Karl was an avid violinist, starting his study at the age of 5 and continuing to play throughout his life with various groups including the Palermo quartet on a weekly basis.

He was a voracious reader and loved to tinker with various projects giving him the family nickname of “Mr. Fix It”.

Karl is survived by his wife Barbara, his daughter Doreen, his grandson Angel, and granddaughter Ariana.

We, at MCNJ, are eternally grateful for his service, his wisdom, and his heart. He will be deeply missed. We send him the most beautiful loving energy as he passes and transitions to his new home. We love you, Karl.
